Job Growth Trends for The culinary arts Sector
If you’re wondering whether or not cooking school is a good idea right now, the jobs outlook says yes. The federal government predicts that jobs in the culinary arts sector will grow at a normal rate in the near future. This is particularly noteworthy in an economy where many sectors are predicted to stagnate or even decline. Almost all sectors of the industry are predicted to expand at a normal rate, including corporate dining and chain restaurants.
Find out about he many culinary arts job opportunities available.
The restaurant industry alone is expected to hire tens of thousands of new employees each year. This includes jobs at all types of restaurants, not necessarily only standalone operations. In addition to chain and family owned restaurants, restaurants in hotels, on cruise ships and at country clubs are among those slated to grow normally.
Institutions which employ culinary arts workers are set to grow normally as well. This would include corporations, governmental agencies, hospitals, schools and so forth. The one caveat here is that many state institutions won’t live up to this growth due to budget problems. If these problems are rectified, growth is expected to rebound appropriately.
Catering is another culinary arts industry which is doing just fine in the current economy and is projected to continue to do so in the future. Organizations of all sizes are expected to do well. Catering is ubiquitous around the country and has been recognized by many cooking school graduates as an excellent temporary job while searching for a more permanent position in the culinary arts world.
The only area expected to grow more slowly is that of household cooks. All in all, however, the culinary arts field is holding its own through these difficult conditions, so attending a cooking school is at least as solid a career path as any other.
