How do you remove or turn off my yahoo?

I know I have turned it off before but dont remember how..For the last couple days when I go to open my homepage(yahoo) it also opens my yahoo in another window..I never liked my yahoo and have turned it off but for the life of me I cant remember how or where..I have tried alot of things in the help section but conveniently it does not give you any easy answers for how to remove something yahoo forces on you that you never asked for.When I could click my mail I had it set up that at the bottom I had a box showing entertainment news..Now that has changed with 'links' to news,entertainment,sports etc and you have to click to get there..you cant because as soon as it loads the page it will not open or change until you reload the page.I have tried to turn my yahoo off and get rid of that annoying connections stuff with no luck..I am not very computer saavy..can anyone help? Im sure its something simple I will kick myself for later.

You Know I'm pretty sure you cant close the
"My Yahoo" without closing your main account
