One of the first thing someone looks at when choosing a show to watch is the way he can relate to it. As far as the show is from reality it has to be something slightly familiar to the crowd otherwise nobody would watch it. star trek for instance is set far into the future nevertheless it still deals with concepts that everyday people can relate to like comradeship, commitment, and love.
Another thing every favourite TV show has is a good original story. Every audience tunes into a TELEVISION show to hear a tale that they have not heard before. It doesn't matter if you're watching a newscast or a Reality TV show, you wish to hear and watch stories that you havent heard before.
After the tale, a TV show that is successful has to have a regular schedule. When a show just comes in at any point they want to come out nobody knows when to watch it. It takes difficult work and dedication to make a quality product each week or everyday and if the quality is not there, the onlookers will spot and will watch something else.
Of course nothing of this would matter when your TV hasn't got adequate reception to offer you a good picture. Think about this when you plan to watch Television the whole afternoon.
